Thames path ultra challenge 2023

Written by Lynda in Culture

On 10th September 2023 the 10 Degrees team will be taking on the Thames Path Ultra Challenge, walking 22km from Cookham to Henley. We’re doing this to raise money for the incredible local children’s charity, First Days.

10 Degrees and First Days have always had a close relationship, since the charity started ten years ago. So we’ve seen first hand how much the charity, and demand for its services, has grown over that time.

The compound impact of the pandemic, refugee support and the cost of living crisis means that, sadly, their services have never been more in demand. During 2022 they supported 7,951 children (up 58% from previous year), gave out 296 beds and mattresses and more than 11,000 items of school uniform. All this, in the supposedly ‘affluent’ Royal County of Berkshire – thousands of children are living in poverty.

Whilst this walk is still several months away, if you know our team well, you’ll know we’re not necessarily the fittest or most active of teams (yet!). So this really be quite a challenge for us! But we’re looking forward to putting together a training plan and get together for some team walks.

If you could help guilt us into putting those training plans into action and motivate us to get out there and put the miles in, it would be very much appreciated! You can donate via our Just Giving page

And if you’ve landed on here from our careers page and are considering joining the 10 Degrees team – we still have some spaces available on the walk, so you can join in!

We’ll keep you all updated on our progress here soon…
